In September 2024, Progreso Foundation, Rabo Foundation, and Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) visited Koperasi Kopi Lintong Humbang Hasundutan in North Sumatra to monitor the cooperative’s progress. The team included representatives from Progreso, Rabo Foundation, and LDC, including program managers and agronomists.
The cooperative, with 619 members, received a working capital loan from Progreso to purchase coffee parchment from members, while LDC, its primary buyer, is aiding its transition to organic farming. This support aligns with the cooperative’s commitment to sustainability, also highlighted by its Rainforest Alliance Certification.
During the visit, Progreso’s Indonesia Program Manager, Kiki Purbosari, introduced the Beyco Farmer App, a digital tool for cooperative management that increases operational efficiency. Comprising a mobile app and a web-based dashboard, it enables staff to register farmer data and track product deliveries, providing leaders with a real-time operational overview. This tool also supports managing input loans for organic farming, reinforcing LDC’s sustainable farming project by helping the cooperative monitor organic input use.
The team toured the cooperative’s warehouse, nursery, nearby farms, and a demo plot led by Prof. Surip Mawardi, showcasing advanced sustainable coffee farming techniques.
Koperasi Kopi Lintong Humbang Hasundutan continues to thrive as a leader in responsible sourcing and sustainable coffee production!
