Dedy Muis has spent his career doing work that sits at the intersection of people and landscape. Supporting farmer groups, managing forests, strengthening coffee value chains, building climate resilience, the thread running through all of it is a commitment to sustainable livelihoods for rural communities in Indonesia. Now he’s bringing that experience to Progreso as Project Coordinator for Indonesia.
What drew him here wasn’t complicated: “Joining Progreso felt like a natural step because of the organization’s commitment to creating positive and lasting impacts for farmers and rural communities.”
In his new role, he’s looking forward to the collaborative dimension, working alongside colleagues from different countries and backgrounds while staying rooted in field reality. He’ll be contributing to stakeholder engagement, field implementation, and sustainability projects, with a particular focus on strengthening relationships with local partners and supporting meaningful outcomes for farmers and communities.
Outside of work, Dedy is passionate about two things that have more in common than they might seem: coffee and cycling. He’s actively involved in community-based coffee initiatives that support farmers on quality and market access, and he explores new places by bike whenever he can.
“Both coffee and cycling are great ways to connect with people and communities.”
It’s a good philosophy for life. And, as it turns out, a pretty good description of his day job too.
