In the highlands of Amazonas, Peru, the Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Laguna de los Cóndores brings together more than 1,000 coffee-growing families across five districts of the Luya province.
Founded in 2017 by just 12 members, the cooperative has grown steadily to 1,040 producer families in 2026, cultivating coffee across approximately 2,430 hectares. Its farms are located in the high-altitude districts of Pisuquia, Providencia, Ocalli, Ocumal and Cocabamba, where the unique mountain environment shapes the character of their coffee.
Laguna de los Cóndores exports directly to buyers in Europe, North America and Asia, offering organically certified, Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance coffees. With its own Internal Control System, ongoing technical assistance and facilities for coffee collection and processing, the cooperative supports producers throughout the value chain while maintaining control over quality and traceability.
For Laguna de los Cóndores, coffee is also a vehicle for community development. The Fairtrade Premium is reinvested entirely in programmes that benefit its members and their communities, including technical assistance and coffee renovation, watershed conservation, organic fertilizers and bio-inputs through BIOLAGUNA, and agricultural education for children through YACHAY CAFÉ.
From 12 founding farmers to more than 1,000 families, Laguna de los Cóndores is building a model in which quality coffee, environmental stewardship and stronger rural communities grow together.
