Agricoop was created in 2009 by a community of nearly 150 cocoa producing members.

Agricoop became a large cooperative society in2014, but suffered from the electoral crisis in Ivory Coast, losing all their assest. Now, the organization is struggling to survive. Progreso, in collaboration with Fondation Agri-Eco Humanis, started working with Agricoop at the end of 2019 to help recover the organizational structure and business capacity.

Progreso has been supportingUOCG since 2015. Currently UOCG is bulking approximately 210 MT parchment from their members, providing about 8 containers of green beans for export.

Rwenzori Farmers’ Co-operative Union– RFCU consists of members who are engaged in the production of vanilla, coffee and cocoa. RFCU started as an association of farmers in 2005 and registered as a Union in 2014.

Progreso has been supporting RFCU since 2015 focussing on the coffee value chain. Currently RFCU is involved in centrally processed natural sundried arabica.

The RASSO Cooperative has been created in 2015 by a group of young male and female farmers. As of today, RASSO is directed by a woman, and has 50% of women in management bodies. This makes it one of the few cooperatives in Côte d’Ivoire to have a high rate of women participants, both as directors and members.

Furthermore, RASSO has 25% of women members and coca plantation owners. This is comparison to the national average of 5-10%.

Thanks to their income coming from cocoa, these women not only have an direct impact on their households, but also on the education of their children.

Mt. Elgon Coffee and Honey Cooperative Society (MECAHC), Uganda

MECAHC is located on the slopes of the Mt. Elgon in Eastern Uganda. It is here, at at up to 2,000 meters above sea level, where one of the finest washed Arabica coffee of the country is produced. The cooperative started as a beekeeping and coffee integration project. After the successful completion of the project, the farmers decided to form MECAHC and, together, market coffee and honey.

MECAHC is receiving support from Progreso since 2021, in order to strengthen its capacity, improve coffee quality, get Fairtrade certified and start exporting their coffees.

Kanyenze People’s SACCO started as a Community-Based Organization in 2000 and registered as a savings and credit society in 2007. In 2012 Kanyenze started bulking and marketing their natural arabica coffee to local coffee companies and traders. Progreso started working with Kanyenze in 2015, and currently has an operational washing station where they process cherries from their members to a well-appreciated washed arabica.
