Founded in 2018, Arábigos Finos, S.A. (AFN) is a family-owned Nicaraguan company focused on the production, processing and commercialization of quality and specialty coffee.
AFN initially marketed coffee produced on the farms of its shareholders. As the company grew, it expanded its sourcing model to work with producers from different coffee-growing regions across Nicaragua. Today, its network includes 159 producers, including its shareholders, managing approximately 1,590 hectares of productive land. Women represent 25% of the producer network.
AFN sources coffee from Madriz, Nueva Segovia, Jinotega, Matagalpa and Nueva Guinea, in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region. This geographic diversity allows the company to offer a broad range of coffees, including Arabica and Robusta, as well as conventional and organic coffees.
Specialty coffee is an important part of AFN’s portfolio. The company commercializes coffees scoring between 83 and 88 points, including microlots differentiated by variety and origin. It also works with different coffee profiles to meet the requirements of individual buyers and markets.
Quality and traceability are central to AFN’s approach. The company holds Organic and Rainforest Alliance certifications and works with producers who implement practices aimed at producing differentiated coffees. Combining certified production with a diverse sourcing network allows AFN to supply buyers looking for specific coffee characteristics while maintaining traceability to the production area.
The company’s producer network consists mainly of farms of around 5–10 hectares, spread across different regions and production systems. Working with producers at this scale enables AFN to consolidate volumes while maintaining a diversified portfolio of origins, varieties and quality profiles.
Since its establishment, AFN has progressively expanded both its producer network and its range of coffees. The company now has a team of eight employees, with its four shareholders forming the Board of Directors and the General Management overseeing operational, commercial and administrative activities.
AFN’s growth reflects a gradual expansion from a family business sourcing primarily from shareholder farms to a diversified coffee company with a national producer network. Its current focus is on strengthening this model, combining quality, diversification and long-term relationships with producers to consolidate its position in Nicaragua’s coffee sector.
