Last week, on Thursday 18th, and Friday 19th of January, 2024, Beyco Implementation Officer in Uganda, Brian, and Progreso´s Quality Consultant, Yvette, visited the Bushika Integrated Area Cooperative Enterprise Limited. The purpose of our visit was to enhance the quality practices within the organization and empower its marketing team with the effective use of the Beyco trading platform.
Quality Training by Yvette
Yvette conducted an insightful quality training session with the dedicated quality team at Bushika. The training covered various aspects of maintaining and enhancing product quality, with a particular focus on off-season activities in the garden. The cooperative members were actively involved in a field demonstration, gaining valuable insights into what needs to be done during the offseason to ensure the highest quality of their products.
Bushika, in its gratitude, acknowledged the Progreso Foundation for the quality training they received. The cooperative has successfully implemented many of the quality practices introduced during the training conducted last year, showcasing its commitment to excellence.
Marketing Team Empowerment
During the visit,Brian also had the privilege of training the marketing team on how to leverage the Beyco trading platform effectively. The aim was to equip them with the skills to create compelling coffee offers and optimize their profiles to attract potential buyers.
In addition to the platform training, he provided a comprehensive demonstration of the Beyco farmer app. The demonstration covered both indoor and outdoor aspects, emphasizing the importance of data collection, especially in the field using polygons. This knowledge is crucial for Bushika as they aim to utilize the Beyco farmer app for data collection to aid in certification processes and internal inspections of their coffee farmers.
A Technological Milestone
It is noteworthy that Bushika has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first cooperative in Uganda to have an account with the Beyco farmer app. Their eagerness to employ this technology for data collection reflects their forward-thinking approach and commitment to leveraging innovative solutions for the benefit of their members.
Focus on Coffee and Honey Products
While Bushika boasts two exceptional products – coffee and honey – they have decided to initially concentrate on collecting data from coffee farmers. This strategic approach will allow them to streamline their processes and enhance their expertise in one product category before expanding to others.
