SCAA honors Progreso project with the 2012 Sustainability Award
The Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) has honored a collaborative project that involved Dukunde Kawa Cooperative from Rwanda, Progreso, REDI and Thanksgiving Coffee Company, with the Sustainability Award 2012.
The project Responding to Climate Change: Building Community-Based Resilience focuses on sustaining the production of high quality coffee in response to climate change. It combines sustainable production in Rwanda with trading and roasting in the US, against a fair price. The project was launched in the fall of 2009 and financed by Progreso.
The SCAA award honors individuals, businesses and organizations in the specialty coffee sector that have initiated innovative projects that promote sustainability livelihoods for those involved. We are very proud and honored that this collaborative project was granted this award.
