Yirgacheffee Coffee Farmers Cooperatives Union

Participates in Progreso Program since 2009. Progreso has been working with this cooperative in the area of Access to Market and Technical Assistance.

YCFCU is the secondary organization, established in June 2002, in Gedeo Zone. YCFCU embodies 22 member Coops having 43,794 member farmers.  The famous “Yirgacheffe type” is the most favorite coffee to which most of the consumers in the world pay special attention. A unique and long tradition of the people to maintain indigenous trees and its surprising inter-crop agricultural practice has helped the preservation of the environment. The people are fully proud of their organically managed under shade coffee.
