Federacion de Asociaciones Artesanales de Produccion Cafetelera Ecologica Manabi
FECAFEM is a second degree organization with its offices located in Portoviejo, Manabi, Ecuador, that was founded in 2004. It is made up out of 4 base organizations that represent a total of 652 producers.
FECAFEM focuses on the commercialization of coffee, although there are also some sales of peanuts.
Total exports have grown from 936 qq in 2007 up to 1.254qq in 2009 and around 2090 qq is expected for this harvest. Harvest is expected to be good with some rains early in the season.
Since 2008 producers have been organic certified and from 2010 it is expected that Fair Trade certification will be in place so double certified coffee can be sold.
