Specialty washed robustas enhanced in Uganda

For the last year and a half, Progreso has been working together with Ugacof and Agro Eco Louis Bolk Institute to enhance Robusta coffee quality and yield through the involvement of farmers in the coffee chain
In the past months, several group leaders have been trained on group development from producer organisations to form the Specialty Coffee Farmers Association, with the aim of forming a cooperative in the future. Farmers are also being trained on integrated pest management for Organic and Utz certification, as well as proper weeding, mulching, intercropping, pruning, and other agricultural activities.
A total of 162 group leaders and over 3.000 farmers have been trained so far.
