Participation on the RAMACAFE 2009

RAMACAFE was for the producer organizations working with the Progreso Program a great opportunity to interact with important main players of the coffee sector in Central America and beyond.
A wide range of other producers organizations, industry professionals, buyers, roasters and retailers, among others, where present too. Ramacafe was a great success for the Progreso producers. They established new business contacts and shared experiences with other producers.
They received information related to current and (near) future coffee market conditions and gained insight in the marketing strategies of international coffee companies such as ILLY Café and Bewley Coffee Company. They learned from the presentations (FLO, UTZ, and 4C’s, Rainforest Alliance, among others) that dealt about the importance of certifications for better market access. They were provided with information about innovative practices that make it possible for them to increase value and improve the efficiency and profitability of their coffee farms, and received information about technological breakthroughs.
The organization of Ramacafe was good, the program was interesting and diverse. All the participants from Progreso Program are already looking forward to Ramacafe 2010.
