International certificate course on organic agriculture

For two weeks, more than a 100 people from 45 producer organisations and NGO's from different countries, such as Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua participated in the International Certificate Course on Organic Agriculture and Permaculture in Santa Barbara, Honduras (April 2010). The training encouraged its participants to include ecological and economically viable solutions in their productive project.
The participants shared their experiences and learned new organic agricultural techniques such as microbiological analysis, mineralization and the use of chromatography for the evaluation of the soil. The permaculture training included themes such as productivity increase, water management and how to make the best use of the available resources in the different regions.
At the end of the course, the lessons learned surpassed the expectations and the new goals for Organic Agriculture have become more ambitious for the participants.
