Hydroelectric Plant in Pangoa Peru
11 January 2011,
Four years ago, Progreso financed the purchase and installation of a second turbine to produce electricity in a hydroelectric power plant in Pangoa, Peru. The investment, made in the form of a soft loan, has been recently fully repaid. The investment doubled the capacity of the plant to produce electricity, which now serves more users in the rural area, where no other company has reached.
The people living in these areas, many of them coffee and cocoa producers, can now use small machines to depulp and wash their coffee, improving the quality of their produce. In addition, people who use kitchen appliances and small businesses, such as carpenters, have greatly benefited from the new energy source as the second turbine guarantees a constant flow of electricity (without annoying blackouts). Also very important, it is clean energy!
