In December 2010, Ndumberi Coffee Farmers Cooperative Society organized an exchange visit for fifty-four farmers to Nyeri County of central Kenya. The main purpose of the visit was to learn and exchange ideas on how best one can improve coffee farming and marketing. The farmers visited Gikanda and Tekangu Coffee Cooperative Unions as well as the Central Kenya Coffee Mills to learn about coffee grading and classifications.
At Gikanda and Tekangu, the farmers interacted and shared with their hosts knowledge on good agriculture practices and how they can get better grades for their coffee. Drawing from their experience at the cooperatives, the farmers promised to practice what they learned in their own coffee farms. They requested for similar exchange visits that can benefit more farmers and members of the community.
