Central de Productores Yaneshas

This past March Angel Mario Martinez, general coordinator of the Progreso Program, visited the coffee producers from the native Yanesha communities in the Selva Central region of Peru. Three years ago, Progreso began supporting Peruvian NGO Amazonas, which helps producers improve and professionalize their coffee production activities while also supporting them with the set-up of a second degree organization for the sales of their coffee.
Recently, the Central de Productores Yanesha (CEPRO Yanesha) was officially established and with the coming harvest, the new organization will have its first experience in commercializing the Yanesha coffee. During his visit, Angel Mario spoke with representatives of Amazonas and CEPRO Yanesha about the successes achieved so far and the challenges that still lie ahead. This was, of course, in addition to enjoying the hospitality and rich cultural traditions of the Yanesha people.
