Better production practices in Haiti
02 December 2010,
The work of Progreso in Haiti focuses on two organizations: the cocoa producer group called FECANNO and the coffee producer group COOPCAB. In the past months, the work supported by Progreso with COOPCAB has been to improve the production practices amongst the producers in order to increase their yields.
The work focuses on fighting some diseases that affect greatly the coffee farms, but also to renew some of the old coffee plants. Already 46,000 plants have been distributed amongst 215 producers of the cooperative. These plants are not donated, but sold to the farmers at a reasonable price. The work will continue to strengthen the technical capacity of the field team and the farmers, to continue to increase their yields and therefore their incomes.
